International Yoga Day Celebration (2026)
The International Yoga Day celebration was successfully conducted on 22.06.2026 at Hi-Tech Polytechnic College, Tirunelveli District, under the auspices of the National Service Scheme (NSS).
The programme was presided over by the Principal of the College, Dr. G. Suresh Thangaraj Thomson, who delivered a special address. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of yoga, its role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and the need for students to practice yoga regularly in their daily lives.
Subsequently, the Physical Education Instructor of the College demonstrated various yoga postures and breathing exercises with practical explanations. The students enthusiastically participated in the yoga training session.
All arrangements for the programme were efficiently coordinated by the NSS Programme Officer, Mr. Murugesh Raja.
Teachers, administrative staff, and a large number of students participated in the event and celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm.
Social Welfare and Women’s Rights Department(2026)
🏆 Students of Hitech Polytechnic College actively participated and performed exceptionally well in various events and competitions organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Women’s Rights, Tirunelveli District, to create awareness about the prevention of child marriage.
In recognition of their contribution and social responsibility, the college Principal presented certificates to the students on 08.09.2026 and congratulated them for their achievements.

World Environment Day (2026)
World Environment Day Pledge Ceremony at Hi-Tech Polytechnic College
On 05.06.2026, a pledge ceremony on environmental protection was conducted at Hi-Tech Polytechnic College, located in Samugarangapuram, Tirunelveli District, to mark World Environment Day.
Students, faculty members, and college staff actively participated in the event and took a pledge to protect the environment, grow and maintain trees, reduce the use of plastics, and conserve natural resources.
The Chief Guest of the program, Dr. Suresh Thangaraj Thomson, Principal of the college, addressed the students on the importance of environmental conservation. He shared valuable insights on protecting natural resources, planting and nurturing saplings, avoiding plastic usage, and the significant role of youth in creating a greener and more sustainable environment.
The event not only created environmental awareness among the students but also strengthened their sense of responsibility toward protecting nature.
Conducted under the theme “Green Earth – Prosperous Future,” the program was widely appreciated by all participants.
Social Justice (2025)
On November 26, Constitution Day of India was celebrated at our Hi-Tech Polytechnic College. The event was organized to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. The Principal of the college, Dr. Suresh Thangaraj Thomson, who presided over the function, created awareness among the students about the importance of the Constitution. At the end of the program, all the students took the pledge in honor of Constitution Day. The event was organized by the college National Service Scheme Officer, Mr. Mohamed Ifam.
NSS Annual Day (2025)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Annual Day was celebrated at our Hi-Tech Polytechnic College on 24.09.2025. On this occasion, the Principal of the college, Dr. G. Suresh Thangaraj Thomson, who participated as the chief guest, offered various suggestions to the students regarding social welfare service activities.
Further, the students registered themselves on the My Bharat website, through which they will be participating in various quiz competitions. The arrangements for the programme were made by the College NSS Programme Officer, Mr. Mohamed Irfan.
Human Rights Day
Human Rights Day was celebrated at our Hi-Tech Polytechnic College on Wednesday, 10.12.2025. The Principal of the college, Dr. Suresh Thangaraj Thomson, who presided over the function, interacted with the students and spoke about human rights, their importance, and the need to protect them. At the end of the event, all the students took the pledge for human rights.
ROTARACT
On 19.09.2025, a Seed Ball Festival awareness seminar camp was conducted for students at Hi-Tech Polytechnic College under the joint auspices of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Youth Red Cross (YRC), and Rotaract Club.
Mr. Sithirai, President of Valliyur Pasumai Karangal, and Mr. Thirumaran, President of the Children and Senior Citizens Care Trust, participated as special guests and created awareness among the students about the importance of growing trees.
The programme was presided over by the Principal of the College, Dr. G. Suresh Thangaraj Thomson, who shared valuable insights on the benefits of trees and environmental conservation.
The participating students enthusiastically brought seeds of various trees. The arrangements for the programme were made by the faculty members. At the conclusion of the event, the students planted saplings within the college campus.
BLOOD DONATION(2025)
In connection with the 79th Independence Day of the nation, a blood donation camp was organized on 14.08.2025 at Hi-Tech Polytechnic College, functioning under the TTN Educational Group, located at Samugarengapuram, Tirunelveli District. The camp was jointly conducted by the National Service Scheme (NSS), Youth Red Cross (YRC), and the Rotary Club.
The camp was successfully conducted by the medical team led by Dr. Siva Subiksha, Blood Bank Doctor, Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital, and Dr. Swetha, Blood Bank Officer, Tirunelveli. Prior to this, on 13.08.2025, an awareness session on the importance of blood donation was conducted for the students by a team led by Dr. Ahmed Rashika, Medical Officer, Radhapuram. Following this awareness programme, the blood donation camp was held.
The camp was inaugurated under the leadership of the Chairman of the College, Er. T. Lawrence, and the Correspondent, Mrs. Helen Lawrence. Rtn. Selvendran, President of the Valliyur Central Rotary Club, participated as the chief guest and appreciated the students who donated blood.
During the event, the Principal of the College, Dr. Suresh Thangaraj Thomson, addressed the students and highlighted the benefits and significance of blood donation. Both students and faculty members actively participated and donated blood.
The arrangements for the programme were made by the NSS Programme Officer, Mr. Mohamed Ifham, Youth Red Cross Officer, Mr. Ramki, and Rotary Club Coordinator, Mr. Balamurugan.
ROTARACT (2025)
The installation ceremony of the new members of the Rotary Club was held on Wednesday, 13.08.2025, at Hi-Tech Polytechnic College, Samugarangapuram. The event was presided over by the Chairman of the college, Er. T. Lawrence, and the Correspondent, , Mrs Helen Lawrence who graced the occasion.
The Principal of the college, Professor Dr. G. Suresh Thangaraj Thomson, delivered a special address, while Rtn. Selvendran, President of the Valliyur Central Rotary Club, gave the presidential address.
During the event, prizes were awarded to the students who won the drawing and poetry competitions conducted earlier as part of an anti-drug awareness programme for students.
Vignesh, a second-year Mechanical Engineering student, was installed as the new Student President of the college Rotary Club, and Muthu Selvan, a second-year Electronics Engineering student, assumed office as the Secretary.
Following the ceremony, the members of the Rotary Club planted saplings within the college campus.
